Look for your wallet.dat file

Bitcoin Core wallets make use of a file named wallet.dat as the wallet file. Thus, if you forget your password, but remember your wallet words, all is not lost! You can find your wallet.dat file by doing one of the following: Windows: %APPDATA%\Bitcoin\macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin

Check your computer’s “My Documents” or “Documents” folder

First, check your computer’s “My Documents” or “Documents” folder. If you find your wallet.dat file in this folder, double-click it to open it in Bitcoin Core.

If you don’t see your wallet.dat file in this folder, try the following:

1) Press the Windows key + R (at the same time). This will open the “Run” dialog box.
2) Type %APPDATA% into the “Run” dialog box and press enter.
3) A new window will open that contains a number of folders. Double-click the “Bitcoin” folder.
4) If you see your wallet.dat file in this folder, double-click it to open it in Bitcoin Core.

Check your computer’s “My Bitcoin Wallet” folder

The first place to look for your lost Bitcoin wallet is on your computer’s “My Bitcoin Wallet” folder. If you don’t see it there, try looking in the “AppData” or “Application Data” folder. Once you find your wallet, double-click it to open it.

If you’re still having trouble, try using a search engine to look for your wallet’s file name. You might also want to try looking in the “Recycle Bin” on your computer, just in case you accidentally deleted your wallet.

Look for your wallet.dat file on your USB drive

Assuming you have a backup of your wallet.dat file, the first thing you need to do is look for it on your USB drive. If you don’t know where it is, try doing a search for “wallet.dat”.

Once you’ve found it, copy it to your computer’s desktop. Then, open up Bitcoin Core and go to Settings > Options. Click on the “Wallet” tab and then click on “Load from file”. Choose the wallet.dat file you just copied to your desktop and click “Open”.

Bitcoin Core will now start scanning the blockchain for any transactions that involve your lost Bitcoin wallet. This could take a while, so be patient! Once it’s done, you should see your Bitcoin balance in the Bitcoin Core interface.

Try a Bitcoin Recovery Service

Fortunately, there are a few different ways to go about recovering your lost Bitcoin wallet. One option is to use a Bitcoin recovery service. These services typically charge a percentage of the total value of the wallet as their fee, but they may be able to help you recover your funds.

Another option is to try and recover the private key or seed phrase associated with your Bitcoin wallet. This can be a difficult process, but it may be possible if you have a backup of your wallet or if you remember any of the words from your seed phrase.

Finally, you may be able to recover your lost Bitcoin wallet by resetting your password or PIN number. This will obviously only work if you have not already tried to reset these login credentials, but it is worth a try if you are unable to access your account any other way.

Create a new Bitcoin wallet
