Bitcoin God (GOD) is a fork of the Bitcoin blockchain. The fork occurred at block 501225, with 1.21 billion GOD created for holders of Bitcoin at the time of the fork. If you held Bitcoin in a wallet to which you had access at the time of the fork, then you should have received an equal amount of Bitcoin God. It can be claimed in a few different ways, depending on which type of wallet you used to hold your Bitcoins.
What is Bitcoin God?
Bitcoin God is a fork of the Bitcoin blockchain that occurred on December 25, 2017. The fork was announced by Chandler Guo, and it is listed under the ticker symbol “GOD.” As with other forks of Bitcoin, Bitcoin God allows for wider transaction propagation and for different rules to be put in place regarding transaction verification.
Bitcoin God is different from other forks in that it uses an Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism rather than a Proof-of-Work mechanism. This means that those who hold Bitcoin God tokens can earn more GOD tokens by staking their existing tokens. The current annual staking return is approximately 5%.
In order to claim your Bitcoin God tokens, you will need to have held Bitcoin in a private wallet at the time of the fork (December 25, 2017). If you held your Bitcoin in a exchanges or online wallets at the time of the fork, you will need to check with those services to see if they are providing access to your GOD tokens.
How to Claim Bitcoin God
If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past few months, you must have heard of Bitcoin God. It’s a new cryptocurrency that was created as a fork of the Bitcoin blockchain. If you own Bitcoin, you can claim your Bitcoin God coins. Here’s how.
Step One: Download the Bitcoin God Wallet
The first step in claiming your Bitcoin God is to download the official Bitcoin God wallet. This can be done by visiting the Bitcoin God website and selecting the ‘Download Wallet’ link.
Once you have downloaded the wallet, you will need to extract the files from the zip folder. Once extracted, you should see a file called ‘bitcoin-god-wallet’. Double click on this file to open up the Bitcoin God wallet.
Step Two: Create a New Wallet
When you first open up the Bitcoin God wallet, you will be asked to create a new wallet or import an existing one. For this guide, we will assume that you do not have an existing wallet and will create a new one.
To create a new wallet, select the ‘Create New Wallet’ option and enter in a strong password. It is important that this password is not forgotten as it will be required later on to send Bitcoin God from your wallet.
Once you have entered in your password, select the ‘Create New Wallet’ button and your Bitcoin God wallet will be created!
Step Three: Backup Your Wallet
Now that your Bitcoin God wallet has been created, it is important to backup your wallet file. This can be done by going to the File > Backup Wallet menu option.
A pop up window will appear asking you where you would like to save your backup file. It is recommended that you save this file in multiple locations such as on a USB drive, external hard drive or even just emailing it to yourself.
Step Two: Backup Your Wallet
Assuming you’ve already downloaded a wallet (we recommend Bitcoin Core), open it up and let it sync completely. This could take a day or more. Once your wallet is synced, go to the “File” menu, and then “Backup Wallet.” You will have to choose where to store the backup. Save it to an external drive or USB stick, and then put it in a safe place.
Step Three: Get Your Bitcoin God Address
In order to receive your Bitcoin God, you will need a Bitcoin God address. This is different from a Bitcoin address, and you cannot use a Bitcoin address for Bitcoin God.
If you don’t have a Bitcoin God address yet, there are several ways to get one. The most common way is to use a cryptocurrency exchange that supports Bitcoin God. You can also use a paper wallet or brain wallet.
Once you have your Bitcoin God address, you will need to enter it in the “Coin Address” field on the claiming form. Make sure that you enter it correctly, as any mistakes will result in your coins being lost!
Step Four: Claim Your Bitcoin God
To claim your Bitcoin God, you need to have a Bitcoin wallet that supports the forked coin. If you don’t have one, you can create a Bitcoin address using any number of popular wallets.
Once you have a Bitcoin wallet, you need to get your Bitcoin God address. This is different from your Bitcoin address and is what you will use to receive your forked coins.
You can find your Bitcoin God address by going to the “Receive” tab of your wallet. Once you have your address, you will need to go to a Bitcoin God faucet and enter it into the form.
A faucet is a website that gives out free cryptocurrencies in exchange for completing a simple task, such as viewing an ad or completing a captcha.
Once you have completed the task, the faucet will send a small amount of Bitcoin God to your address. This may take a few minutes, so be patient!
